I used the guide for my AV4 trip in August 2025. I used both the CalTopo option and GPX tracks for my Garmin watch (that required some editing but I didn't have to enter waypoints manually as suggested and they worked perfectly). I prefer to use my watch rather than phone for navigation and I could refer to CalTopo app for more detailed guidance when needed. That combination worked great. There were moments where the route would differ slightly to the official AV4 markings but they would eventually join and I'd say Brooke's variant was more convenient at times. Great resource especially combined with her blog about AV4

Decide work seamless with Caltopo.

The BB blog has been very useful for us, and as a learned during the hike, to many others. Purchasing the map is most helpful and small token of gratitude to the dedicated author.
